Like people have said here, what sounds great to some might not sound so great to others but I love big full fat sounding drums and fxpansionĪre making the biggest the fattest and the fullest. Geist is drum a sampler rather than a drum synthesiser.Īlso from worth checking out from Fxpansion (yes I'm a fan) are BFD Eco and it's big brother BFD2 (can't find the original showcase video)īFD2 is currently one sale at half price BFD2 Sale which is just amazing value for what you are getting and although Eco might be simpler to useĪnd plenty enough to get you going the sale price makes it a no brainer as long as your system can handle it. You don't say what you are currently using and I'm not entirely sure what is best (or most commonly used) in R & B ballads.įor ground breaking creative sounds I would strongly recommend FXpansions Tremor which is a drum synth or Geist from the same company. X1 producer is definitely worth upgrading to but NOT if all you want from it is good quality drums. Go for Producer, they should have made that the ONLY X1. The great thing is though compared to Studio Instruments Drums, all these other Drum Soft Synth MIDI patterns are all usable with each other,AND at the same time AS WELL!,and you still got S.I.

In a nutshell Steven Slate Drums 4 EX is "easily the best",the cymbals are incredible, and make most of the others seem a bit fake by comparison, the download entails de-compressing. Kontakt/not so great routing,or easy to underStand, but great sound]and recently Steven Slate 4 However,as I learned more,I also bought EZ drummer-$165 and seemed a bad deal untill they updated to 64bit,I ONLY use X1 in 64bit-WAY more stability, and definitely LESS CPUand Steven Slate 3.5EX,which uses N.I. OK,Session D.3,Hmmm I initially loved it,the Steven Slate Zep kits are great[the basic rock MIDI patterns aren't basic enough, but the groove monkey basic, are so basic,it's caveman time, and I bought the Andy Johns kit and the patterns from "Steve Ferrone" are really great,so versatile.

It's not just the Pro Channel it is Session Drummer 3 plus no plugin/VSTi restrictions.īy having both,I was able to get free upgrades to both Amplitube 3and Guitar Rig 5 plus a discount on stuff from Komplete,Guitar Rig is much better sounding for Clean/Semi Clean sounds, and seens more stable as well as being true 64bit,whereas Amplitube is not and uses WAY more CPU IMO. So I can say with some idea that Producer if you do the upgrade,is DEFINITELY the way to work. Instead of upgrading, and downloading Producer,a dealer here, sold me the boxed version at a slightly reduced price, and my internet account was strictly 3G wireless back then and would regularly slow to a dribble after 7/8 days into the month Just something with more real sounding drums vs one shot samples like here. For some examples of the kind of music Ill be doing with this here are some songs. I do not want something that sounds like a rock song but more something that sounds like a 70s soul song.

Sonar x1 Studio, Reason 6, Propellerheads Balance, Dimension Pro, Rapture Pro, Z3ta 2, Lounge Lizard, Proteus X2, BCF 2000, MAudio Oxyen 49, Giest, Spark VDM. Core i7 2.20ghz 8 gigs of ram 1TB hard drive running at 5400rpm laptop. Edit: The question of what I have now has come up a bit so I am going to address those questions here. I will mostly be doing rnb ballads with the library. I will be playing the drum sounds by hand on my midi controller so midi loops are not important to me at all. Is Session Drummer 3 any good? I am debating on upgrading from X1 studio to Producer to get my hands on it or buying Addictive drums. How does it compare to other drum libraries?
